Biothing: Invisibles

An audio-visual architectural installation at the Prague Biennale

Biothing Invisibles Collage

This installation at the first Prague Biennale animated the space with a ghostly presence. We used parametric Maya animations and made reactive granular synthesis sound displays with Max. A cellular automaton of an imagined viral creature controlled the animation playback and sound processing. The more people entered the space, the better the survival chances of this "virus" in the model. The colony growth patterns altered the granulated sounds coming from the walls to haunt the space with a site specific viral ghost.

Biothing Invisibles Map I was invited to join the project by Kevin Kane, now at Arktura and Alisa Andrasek. It was fun to work with We Are Dag who were at Columbia University at the time.
