The sound you are hear in this installation was recorded on August 18th, 2013 around the largest documented living tree. If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? As the question suggests, the woods are a great place to ponder such ideas. Sequoia State Park is an especially great wood because it holds the worlds largest tree that people named General Sherman. This massive Sequoia continues to stand. Forgetting the distracting impressions and focusing on the sound of the tree begs a question. Did the tree create its environment or did its environment create the tree?
In collaboration with Caitlin Foley. First exhibited in Los Angeles in 2013.
